make sure you can put the rest of your life on autopilot.

Changing your eating patterns is difficult; they are habits ingrained in your daily life and psyche, and altering them is very stressful.

With this in mind, it is wise to make sure that when you take on a new diet it is the only change in your life, and thus the only cause for stress.

If you are starting a new job, or your relationship is in turmoil, or you are about to move house, do not start a new diet. All these things will be causing immense stress on you already, and you would be well advised not to add to this by beginning a new diet.

The more constancy and strength you have in other areas of your life, the easier it will be to make changes in your diet really stick.
