Going into this new diet with the belief that it will be an exceptionally hard experience sounds at first unhelpful, but this is not the case.
Expecting your new diet to be very tough will cause you to be happily surprised when it is easy, and goes well. And you will also be prepared when the tough times come, and they will, so you won’t beat yourself up if mistakes are made.
Also try not to get overly optimistic when things start to go well. When it seems easy to stick to your diet, and when the pounds are falling off you (this is often at the start, during the honeymoon period where everything seems to be working out perfectly) pinch yourself, and realize this will not last.
Expect and plan for the worst. If you have been on previous diets, think back to the transitional period; think to when your mind angrily defied your new will to eat differently. It will be the same again.
